Facial Enhancement (Cosmetic) Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture often known as Facial Enhancement Acupuncture, aims at bringing natural beauty to the surface. It is a non-surgical, non-chemical procedure and works by stimulating blood circulation and the production of collagen. It has been practised in China since the Sung Dynasty (960 A.D.) with records showing women of the elite upper classes receiving treatments.

Thousands of years ago the Chinese discovered that many meridians either begin or end on the face while some have internal branches that go to the face. Thus, practitioners of Facial Acupuncture know how to specifically affect the flow of Qi in the meridians that flow in the face while simultaneously treating any underlying constitutional disharmonies.

An initial consultation is taken in much the same way as for acupuncture and each course of Facial Acupuncture is formulated according to the individual’s circumstances. A course of treatment generally consists of 10 to 12 treatments, ideally a week or so apart. Each person responds differently, depending on life events and lifestyle prior to treatment. Following the initial course of treatment, regular maintenance sessions can prolong the results for five to ten years. Use of other therapies such as facial massage, acupressure and a healthy diet can further enhance treatment effects.

A treatment will involve the use of very fine, single-use, pre-sterilised, disposable needles at points and muscles in the face in order to improve the elasticity of the skin and general overall appearance. Needles will also be used on specific points on the arms and legs in order to treat the face and balance the body energies.. This is followed by applying gentle guasha to the face and neck and a facial massage

Each course of Facial Acupuncture is formulated for your particular circumstances and treats in a holistic manner – body, mind and emotions. Once we feel good about ourselves many things may change for the better.
